Turning Green

The living room may be the heart of the house, but the bedroom is its soul. In this set-up, Nitin Jain of New Delhi-based lifestyle brand InVhome uses varying shades of green to create a space that is as fresh as spring. With luminescent crystal accessories, magical mirrors and twinkling candles, the space will surely give you peace of mind.
If there is any room in your home that truly reflects your taste and personality, it’s most definitely going to be the bedroom. But, there’s no end to what’s available in the market to style your room, which renders all that decision-making incredibly tricky. The key is to remember that the space will be your place of shut-eye; it has to relax and rejuvenate and also be easy on the eye. So it’s a wise choice to refrain from bold hues, and over-the-top decor and furniture. Chances are, you will find your senses on hyper-drive and sleep will be the last thing on your mind. So, this time around we went to furniture and accessories brand InV Home, known for its contemporary panache to create a snooze-room fit for a modern home. The result was a bedroom that was both inviting and invigorating.

The idea was to fashion an area that would embody the bright spirit of spring in a peaceful way. Green thus became a natural choice for the setting. To take it a step further, the kind folks at the brand have played with various lighter shades of the hue too. Experts opine that light green is a subtle reminder of nature and it makes you feel healthy and happy which makes it an ideal pick for a personal room. Some cultures actually believe that this tone has healing properties as well. So why wouldn’t you want it at home? In this set-up, the in-house design team of InVhome took cues from lush lawns, verdant vistas and new leaves to create a room with a kiss of spring. The soft colour palette has been enhanced by using neutral shades of cream, dull gold and white accents.

While the backdrop of a bed is largely considered banal and boring, it’s quite neglected in most homes. However, in reality, it’s the one plane that decides the mood of any room. Ideal options would be paints, decals and wallpapers in subtle shades. In the same vein, the designers have used wallpaper with a champagne gold motif that complements the bed dressed in all its green glory of cotton, voile and velvet cushions, and bed spread, with a tall headboard. A calming artwork, lamps, vase with white tulips, candle-holders, ottoman, comfortable two-seater sofa and crystal chandelier complete the look. The layout is simple, but it is in this effortlessness that one finds sophistication. Our favourite is the floor-to-ceiling mirror with a cream-leather frame next to the sofa that provides depth to the room.
