With immense attention to detail, the Antique collection of carpets introduced by Qaaleen is crafted from a blend of fine Merino wool and pure silk. The line uses herbal dyes that are 100 per cent organic in nature, and provide a natural and rustic appearance. The dyes are obtained from barks of trees, stones and other natural items. The collection reproduces carpets used in the 19th century. In those days, carpets were made of five colours but due to deterioration over the years the original piece gave the impression of having many colours. However, in an attempt to safeguard their originality, Qaaleen has used approximately 16 colours and 250 to 400 knots per square inch. After 18 months of R&D in colours and materials conducted by the company, Qaaleen has managed to mimic the 19th century carpets that are available in 15 designs.
