Obeetee’s third Proud to Be Indian (PTBI) series — that showcases high-end boutique carpets — sees a collaboration with designer Raghavendra Rathore. Raghavendra has dived deep into the royal grandeur that epitomises Rajasthan — with the Marwar region, specifically Jodhpur for core inspiration.
The framework of this collection is based on three design structures: Jodhpuri Gaadi Masand, Rajasthan architecture and the Jodhpur Coat of Arms. His conceptualisation of various motifs, colours and patterns has been tirelessly realised by weavers from Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh. Rendered with opulent embroidery in velvet, the Jodhpuri Gaadi Masand range derives inspiration from the textured royal seat used by kings and queens in darbars. The Rajasthan architecture range borrows influences from the majestic arches and structural design elements, including mirror-work and brightly painted religious figures, of the Sheesh Mahal at the Mehrangarh Fort. Jodhpur Coat of Arms is an offbeat showcase of logos, emblems, insignias and monograms of Rajput princely states, thikanas and jagirs of India.
