Michael Maltzan

Michael Maltzan believes that architecture plays a crucial role in the way cities function. His work, therefore, engages the contemporary world through a style that is a catalyst for new experiences and an agent for change. His firm, Michael Maltzan Architecture in Los Angeles, epitomizes this and is involved in crafting individual experiences intertwined into the broader urban context. From art centres and museums to housing projects for the homeless, Michael’s body of work has succeeded in creating connections across a range of scales and programs.  He serves as lecturer and critic at noted schools including Princeton University, Harvard University, Rhode Island School of Design, and University of California. His noteworthy projects include the MoMA Queens in New York, Skid Row in Los Angeles and St. Petersburg Pier in Florida, for which he has been recognized with numerous accolades including LABC Architecture Design Award 2013, Arts & Letters Award in Architecture 2012 and the Rudy Bruner Foundation’s Gold Medal for Urban Excellence among others.
